- Born at home on the Keweenaw Peninsula of the Upper Midwestern United States.
- Traveled extensively throughout North America and Europe as part of a collaborative noise project based out of Berlin.
- Studied film direction and cinematography at the Academy of Film, Television and Performing Arts in Prague, CZ (FAMU).
- Moved to New York in 2005, and worked extensively as a commercial photo assistant.
- Graduated with a BFA in photography from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan (FIT).
- Current MFA candidate of the Photography and Related Media program at Parsons the New School for Design.
- His photographs have been featured as part of the American Photo 2008 Photos of the Year competition, the Rush Arts Gallery “Freeze Frame” exhibition at Art Basel Miami 2008 and in VUU Magazine.Leif lives in Brooklyn, NY
